The smart and sophisticated theatrical world of Noel Coward provides the inspiration for the Washington Stage Guild’s 2015 annual gala, “A Marvelous Party,” set for Thursday, June 4 at the historic Arts Club of Washington, 2017 I St., NW.
The words and music of Coward—whose complete cycle of Tonight at 8:30 plays were featured in the Stage Guild’s Readings Series this season—are spotlighted in the evening’s centerpiece, a sparkling revue devised by Artistic Director Bill Largess in which he’s joined by favorite company artists. And since no marvelous party is complete without a star turn, this year’s gala also includes a guest appearance by cabaret legend Steve Ross.
The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails, followed by the revue and dinner.
Along the way, we’ll celebrate the just-ended Stage Guild season and look ahead to the new one—marking our 30th anniversary.
Individual tickets are priced at $250 per person, with additional levels support available. To purchase tickets,
About Steve Ross
Known as “The Crown Prince of Cabaret,” Steve Ross is internationally recognized as one of the finest interpreters of the music of Noel Coward. He served as the master of ceremonies for the gala Noel Coward Centennial Concert at New York’s Town Hall, created and performed in programs for Lincoln Center’s 2012 “Noel Coward in New York“ festival, and appeared on Broadway with Frank Langella in Present Laughter.
The newest of his many CDs is Noel Coward: Off the Record, a collection of previously unrecorded Coward rarities. He has been honored by the Noel Coward Society in London for his career-long dedication to the words and music of The Master.
The Washington Stage Guild is thrilled to welcome Steve Ross as a special guest performer at our Marvelous Party.
I’ve been to a marvelous party./I must say the fun was intense….
