The Critics Love IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A LIVE RADIO PLAY!
The holidays have started at the Undercroft Theatre with a cleverly theatrical retelling of the beloved film’s story. And the reviews are in– it’s a smash!
“It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play transports us back to Christmas Eve, 1946; we are to be the live studio audience for a performance of a radio play based on a Frank Capra film that was not yet a seasonal classic: It’s a Wonderful Life… fans of WAMU’s “The Big Broadcast” will be delighted… It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play hits all the right notes… the perfect way to kick off the Christmas Season with a shot of heartfelt nostalgia.”

WSC Avant Bard presents a lovely and lyrical reminiscence by a great American artist about his coming of age in Depression-era Alabama. Abandoned by his parents at age 7, he was taken in by a kindly elderly cousin named Miss Sook, who called him Buddy and became his best friend in all the world.
Holiday Memories is beautifully drawn from two beloved short stories by Truman Capote, “A Christmas Memory” and “A Thanksgiving Visitor,” adapted for the stage by Russell Vandenbroucke. A tender look back at a time when friendship seemed forever and all of life was ahead, Holiday Memories offers a richly theatrical occasion to reflect on our own fleeting youth.
